Mine was more or less simultaneous (ie, exposure to music, buying my own, etc): in 67 the older brothers brought home, all in the same yr more or less, Cream, JimiH, DEAD, BBHoldCo, MGrape, QMS, BDylan, Donov, PFloyd, and the other suspects for SF sound/R&R of the day...of those, my initial "obsessions" though were for CCR, Cream and Donov, along with NYoung shortly thereafter, and by about 71, the DEAD in a big way...Everyone else since then has been a distant second to the band, though there was about 20 yrs after I stopped going thr til the past 5 or so, that I was rather diffuse, but the DEAD still loomed in the background such that everyone thought of me as the whacky, 60s refuge stuck in the DEAD, etc.

So, I guess you could say they were first, last and in between for me...the few folks that have known me for over 40 yrs certainly think of me as a stunted, ignorant, myopic sort that really never got enough exposure to good music.

This is a source of great pride for me, or course.

My dad was a WW 2 vet - he flew airplanes over Europe and took pictures. He died in 1991.
